Poor Miesha

Miesha had surgery today. She is doing fine. Still groggy and upset stomach, yet she is fine.

Back on 24 October, as we were going to bed, I looked at Miesha and noticed she had blood on her tail. The top side near the base of the tail near where it attaches to the body. I poked around a little and saw a good sized sore. Miesha went to the vet the next day. It was an infected cyst. The vet expressed the cyst and put Miesha on antibiotics. It cleared up. Until...

This was my first 'clue' that something was off. Miesha was sitting in her chair backwards. This was to trap her tail so she could like it. So, I checked her tail, and sure enough, the cyst was back. Miesha got to go the vet, again. Only this time the vet said it would have to be surgically removed. There is a good side, and a challenge, to the cyst being on her tail. The good side is she only required a small sedative and local anesthetic for the surgery. The challenge is that the tail only has the one main blood supply. If that blood supply is compromised in any way, sutures pulling too tight, bandage wrapped too tight, the tail could be damaged, or die. So, I am keeping a close eye on Miesha's poor tail.

She goes back to have the bandage changed in two to three days. Then we'll see how she is doing. The stitches come out in 10 to 14 days. Good thing the vet is between work and home.
